We Are Young

"Rob wrote the music to this track years ago, when he was in the band with Simon and me, and Jo hadn't joined. I had come up with various lyrical ideas over the years, but couldn't quite come up with a melody or words which I felt did it justice.

I finally came up with the 'we are young' lyric, and after many pages of revisions (!) I came up with the definitive version.

I like the words because they kind of sum up some of the things that I feel are true in the world. It's kind of like a call to arms to young people (without sounding pompous). Have a bit of hope and ambition - stop pinning your hopes on the lottery. Do something with your life. That does sound pompous!" -Anthony, 11th December 2000
